lol If it isnt dedicated then my gaming days are over. I'm holding off on buying a new computer until I see this game. Hooray for the lowest bidder. Unfortunately it will probably do well, console wise and for the newer gaming generation who dont know any better or bother to know about the differences, they will buy the game. The PC version will definately not hit its projected sales if dedicated servers are out of the question due to corporate greed. Perhaps this will be a momentary lapse in business strategy while other businesses watching come to the realization after the fact that dedicated is the way to go. Unfortunately this game and probably the franchise will take a long plunge into the bottomless pit of utter and complete failure. No one will go near it again for long time if ever. Chalk one up for "We care more about making a lot money and producing another "ok" game for the dumb mass's as opposed to making a decent amount of money to help support a franchise with a lot of potential." If this guy is dodging the question its not that he doesnt know the answer, all this was hashed out long before they began making this game. He is dodging because he was put on the spot and doesnt want to scare off potential buyers. Otherwise if he believed dedicated was the way to go, he would of been proudly saying, "Yes, we will of course use dedicated servers to better support this franchises fan base because thats our continued commitment to the gaming community, to our customers." He is making it sound like its some kind of old expensive priviledge to provide a master server listing for dedicated servers and that we are lucky when corporations actually put some extra money into a sound product. Bad PR on his part, then again I bet he doesnt call all the shots.

I think the major difference here is that this time around avp is now offered on console which is apparently an entirely different fan base and genre of gaming. AvP2 was looked upon strictly as a game for the computer user. Now that consoles are in the market, Its like pc users are now treated the same way (no dedicated servers). The lesson here is that if they overlook the PC and all of what it can do and treat the PC market like its just another console, they are going to have a rude awakening. Why would I want to buy a $50.00 game to play on my $3,000.00 machine if the game only utilizes the same stuff on a $300.00 console. Rebellion better find a different company to work for if they would like to keep their reputation intact with the PC community, and SEGA better get its head out of its ass because this isnt a just a console game. I mean are they building PC games or are they building console games. The two are different markets, whats next is we will look at the front cover of a video game and the box will say, "Can be played on 360, PS3, Nintendo, Coleco, Atari, I Phone, BlackBerry, any GPS, and oh yeah that outdated piece of crap the PC." Oh yeah we cant do dedicated for everyone cuz that would be monumentally expensive. Hmmm, how expensive would it be if no one with a pc buys this game and any other game they produce. We dont need to petition people, we need to BOYCOTT!! This is what happens when a company like SEGA a predominantly console based business gets a hold of a now PC based franchise like AvP. I am not a 12yr old with a F'in SEGA Genisess.

I saw a post in some other forum where some moron was saying, "Its just business blah blah...!" I refuse to be some gamer drone devoid of any thought such as that guy. Let me tell you all what good business is all about. Even though I hate EA, the one thing gaining applause from me is their business sense. At least with their BF2 series instead of saying thats too expensive and completely over looking the PC empire market base. Such as all the server farms out there and mappers and MOD'ers, and whole communities who have years invested in this such as this clan and the clan I am in, EA said, "Hey, lets set up a rank structure and SELL the licensing to those server farms. Also those MOD'ers from 1942 lets employ them as consultants to help make a great game to last the years so we can sell expansions and sequels." They took an obstacle and turned it into multi millions and gave the gamers what they wanted not to mention console sales as well. Of coure the patching and the nerfs is what screwed up BF2 for me over the years but at least they took a problem and turned it into a benefit for all. THATS BUSINESS! So I am not buying the excuse of "Thats expensive." They obviously dont care to put some work into their marketing strategy or they are all idiots because I could apparently better market a game than they.

yeah there was talk about holding off on saying anything on previous games that have went this route due to pre-order sales. It will be interesting to see how long they makes us wait to reveal what their plans are for pc. Rebellions first avp was P2P and there was a lot of complaints about it then. Yet this guy says what an extraordinary experience it was lol. Wow he is really in touch with whats going on. Reminds me of a politician. You know Sega likes P2P and Rebellion has used it before so I if Ihad to guess right now I'd say P2P is in the bag. However like you I try to remain optimistic yet to my experience hope never really gave me yield. A miracle perhaps?
