We may have to skip AVP2 Night on Saturday 12-27-08. It is possible that the AVP2 servers will be kept off line as part of my effort at helping Server Support diagnose the daily network interruptions to
our Dedicated server, SG-2.
The Data Center states that the last time the SG-2 lost the internet while(using a re-loaded Operating System scanned for viruses and spyware, and while using a different CPU and memory), they got it back online by disabling and re-enabling the Network Interface Card (NIC).
The Datacenter concluded that it is something we are running on the server that is causing the Internet Network disruptions.
Server Support (working for a company independent of the Data Center) requested that I NOT run our AVP2 Game Servers - presumably to see if our Dedicated Server still loses connectivity. If SG-2 does not, then we, obviously, know its the AVP2 Servers.
Personally. I do NOT believe that the AVP2 Servers are responsible and I gave Server Support my thoughts behind this conclusion.
However, I agreed to cooperate with Server Support as I view their request as reasonable. We will know soon enough if the LithFaq.com browser or the Rommie Admin Mod (or a AVP2 hacker?) is causing this problem with our particular server.
If AVP2 is causing a problem, I am determined to fix it. This game is the soul of our clan and I will not give it up.
Loss of internet connectivity for SG-2 has been an ongoing problem since the last third of November.
NO MATTER WHAT THE CAUSE THIS PROBLEM WILL RESOLVED.
P.S. SG-2 is running at about 30-40% capacity. New, upgraded hardware should be installed in the NY Data Center later this week.
